Oni as Deputy Secretary General to Advance Continental Tourism Diplomacy and the Creative Economy PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA — The African Tourism Board (ATB) is honored to formally announce the appointment of Adefunke O. Oni to the high office of Deputy Secretary General. Previously serving with distinction as the Global Ambassador for Nigeria, Ms. Oni’s elevation to this executive mandate underscores the Board’s strategic commitment to reinforcing tourism diplomacy and fostering the creative economy as primary pillars of continental prosperity. With over 15 years of multidisciplinary leadership, Ms.


Oni is a recognized authority in tourism development, travel advisory, and international event diplomacy. Her career is characterized by a sophisticated integration of public policy and private sector innovation. In addition to her new executive responsibilities within the ATB, she continues to serve as a Senior Consultant to the Office of the Special Assistant to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy. “The appointment of Adefunke O. Oni marks a significant milestone in the strategic evolution of the African Tourism Board,” stated the Executive Chairman of the ATB. “Her profound expertise in cultural exchange and her proven track record in international engagement are invaluable assets. As Deputy Secretary General, she will be instrumental in harmonizing our collective efforts to position Africa as a premier, sustainable global destination, ensuring that the ‘Africa Rising’ narrative translates into tangible socio-economic advancement for all member states.”


An alumna of the Rome Business School, Italy, where she earned an Executive Master’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Ms. Oni’s professional influence is extensive and multifaceted: Strategic Advisory: As the Founder and CEO of Asanova Advisory Ltd, WECREATIVE Nation Ltd, and LABALÁBÁ Travel and Tours Ltd, she provides high-level guidance on global mobility and cultural diplomacy. International Liaison: She serves as the official liaison for E.A.T.O.W. GLOBAL in collaboration with the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC). Global Leadership: Her commitment to societal advancement is reflected in her roles as the Regional Chair (South West) for G100 Nigeria and Rotary International Image Chair for 2026/2027.
